Hey there!
I have been wanting to join the blogging world for a while now just never have gotten around to it. But alas! I have my first blog and my first post.
So you may ask what you will find on my blog? All sorts of things! From recipes, to books, to scripture, from pieces of my heart and mind, to other really random things!
I figured now would be a good time to start this blog as I am embarking on a new chapter in my life. One day, several months ago, on my way to work I was listening to the radio and heard a lady talking about her gluten intolerance, and the symptoms she was having that lead her to seek a diagnosis from a Dr. Well that really got me to thinking as I suffer from many of the symptoms that this lady described. So my bff Google helped me to learn alot about gluten intolerances and Celiac's Disease. I was actually amazed to see all of the things that you could suffer from if you had a gluten intolerance and continue to eat gluten. Here are a few symptoms of gluten intolerance (sorry if some of them are a little "graphic")
- Weight loss or weight gain (check)Nutritional deficiencies due to malabsorbtion e.g. low iron levels (Low iron:check)
- Gastro-intestinal problems (bloating, pain, gas, constipation, diarrhea) (check to several of these!)
- Aching joints (check)
- Depression (check)
- Eczema
- Head aches
- Exhaustion (check)
- Irritability and behavioral changes
- Infertility, irregular menstrual cycle and miscarriage (check)
- Cramps, tingling and numbness (check)
While I know that each of these symptoms can be associated with other issues and just because I have these issues it does not mean that I have a gluten intolerance, but the way I look at it is.. Going gluten free for a trial period is practically free to try. Don't get me wrong! I have done my research, and I know it will be extremely hard.. Wel actually this will be my third attempt at it.. But this time I am devoted! I am currently reading Elizabeth Hasslebeck's book The G-Free Diet (http://www.gfreediet.com/nutrition.html)and I feel like I am being properly equipped for going gluten free. It is very informative but at the same time over whelming! Especially when you think about cross contamination.. but I will save that for another day! lol
Anyways, you may be asking why I decided to share this.. The reason I decided to share this is because A.) I need PRAYER B.) any advice is more than welcome C.) recipes (if you have any) are deeply appreciated. But mainly this is for accountability. I really have thought and prayed about this for a while now and I sincerely think that this may greatly help some of my "issues" lol! So if you think about it, please pray for strength, guidance, and perseverance (just to name a few!)
With lots of love from your wacky friend! =)
