Heather - I am so thankful that God saw fit to put you in my life 12 years ago. I am thankful for your friendship and all the spice, joy, drama interest ;) and laughter that you add to my life. My prayer for you and your marriage is that you put Christ first today, tomorrow and always. Pray for Charlie daily, pray that you will be the help meet you are called to be, and pray that God's will be done in your marriage and not your own. I wanted to share a few verses with you, and all who are reading this.
Colossians 3:12-17
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were calledin one body. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Proverbs 31 gives us a wonderful outline of what a Godly wife is.
Also in Ephesians 5 we are told to submit to our husbands, as we submit to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church.
It wont always be easy, I can assure you of that. It will have to be a conscious decision you make daily for the better of yourself, your husband, your marriage and your future family. Remember that the Proverbs 12 says "A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones." I promise you that these verses are not only for you but for me also. Even as I write this blog I am convicted of many of my shortcomings in my own marriage. If we do these things every day in our marriage I believe God will be glorified in and through our marriage. I love you dearly and pray for you often!
For all that read this post I would like to request that as you rejoice in Heather's marriage will you also pray for her? Charlie, her husband, will be leaving for Afghanistan on November 17th. Please keep Charlie, Heather, and their families in your prayers whenever they come to mind.
While marriages are fun events where we can get together, see old friends, have good food, and delicious cake I pray that I will always be reminded by the new covenant of my own covenants. My own vows and promises to my husband, my role and duties as a christian wife in marriage but most importantly, may we be reminded of the great love and mercy of our faithful Savior.
