Chocolate, Pork, Onions, Tomatoes.. I bet you're wondering what these foods have in common??

Food seems to all I think about these days... Well... just the foods I can't have.. I am weak with little self discipline!

About a week and a half ago I went to the doctor for a few things. While there I learned that I have some serious digestion issues (yeah I know, nothing new to me! I've been living with the pain for years..). I'm the type of person that just deals with what ever pain or sickness comes my way. I rarely, if ever, take medicine. No particular reason why not I just don't. I just tough it out usually. So, I've never sought out any answers for my digestion issues, I've just lived with them. Well after this visit to the doctor I found out several foods that I should not be eating. These are foods that I love and eat on a regular basis. The conclusion? To go cold turkey - and stop eating them. Sadly this excludes several of my favorite foods. Here's my list of foods to "avoid"

Tomatoes
Pork
onions
Yeast
Gluten/Wheat
Almonds
Cashews
and Chocolate!
I was also told not to eat fish and sea food, but I never eat them any ways so there was no love lost there.

I've now gone a week with out these things. So - can I tell a difference? Honestly, not yet. But I expected it to be this way. I will be on this lovely diet for a month at the least. If there is actually a difference in the way I feel and my health then I will sadly joyfully give these food up (maybe the occasional cheat on "special" occasions).

What's interesting is that about a year ago, through hearing someone on the radio, I started doing my own research about a gluten intolerance/ sensitivity. I found myself to have many of the symptoms, and even decided to give the gluten free life a try. Well, this prove to be much harder than I ever imagined. I quickly learned that gluten was in almost everything I ate. It was practically impossible to escape haha! I quickly gave up and decided that it was just to hard. Plus I hadn't been diagnosed by a doctor, just myself.

What I'm really hoping to gain from these restrictions is that my hormones will balance out. Eating gluten while having a gluten intolerance can cause a hormone imbalance as well as infertility. It's some pretty interesting stuff, actually. And if this improves my hormone imbalance I will gladly give gluten up forever!

I'm not only avoiding these foods but also loading up on a few supplements. Turns out that I'm pretty deficient in vitamin a&d. Guess my hatred for milk has actually taken a toll on me! The past week I've been filing my desire for chickfila, bread, and chocolate with this...

Ahh... this cereal is so good. As a matter of fact.. I think I will have some now, yes at 11:00 at night. No judging!
